When you think about survival kits, you might think that in order to have everything that you need, you have to put it together yourself—and that can get pretty expensive.
Fortunately, there are more cost-effective options available, such as the Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Kit. Because the container is relatively small, you can add it to your survival gear without sacrificing too much space.
Perhaps one of the best aspects of this particular kit is that it comes with a pocket survival guide from Bear Grylls himself. Of course, there is a lot more than just that included in this kit. The kit is a 15 piece kit and it includes:
The bag is made of a bright orange nylon fabric which can easily be seen if you drop it. On the back of the bag, there is a land/air SOS instructions sewn onto the bag.
The thing that makes this kit different than a kit you can put together yourself or even other survival kits on the market is that it comes with a Mylar thermal sheet which when used, can retain up to 90% of your body heat.
Many people forget to include these sheets and they suffer in the cold. Also, the kit comes with land to air rescue and SOS instructions, which can be a great help in an emergency situation.
One of the possible drawbacks of this kit is that the zipper doesn’t close all the way, which means water can seep into the pack if it is submerged in water.
Some people complain that the single cotton ball was a lame addition and something more substantial could have been included in place of it. After all, a cotton ball only costs a couple pennies.
Another possible drawback is that the copper wire isn’t going to be strong enough to catch anything larger than a small squirrel. If you want something a little more substantial that can trap a larger animal.
For all that you get in this survival kit, it is moderately priced at just under $40.
If you are new to prepping for a survival situation, this is an excellent kit to have on you. It has items in it that will help keep you warm, fish for food if you’re by water, start a fire, and so much more. Although some of the items seem like an afterthought, it is still very much worth the $40 dollar price tag.
